Tempi glanced up at the signs. Disapproval. “That is not of the Lethani.”
Tbh saying something like “I hate cis people” on tumblr isn’t fighting fire with fire, it’s more like saying “I hate fire” while burning to death only to get lectured by said fire about how not all fire is like that and it occasionally keeps you warm

Lately, the idea that slash shippers are straight girls ruining series with their homosexual fetishization has been going around a lot. That’s bullshit. The more I think about it, the more bullshit it is. This post proves that not all slash shippers are straight girls in the first place: in fact, they’re a minority. But honestly, I think the whole premise of that idea is wrong. I think that looking to the readers and writers of slash fiction for the reason of its popularity isn’t going to get us anywhere. After all, fanfiction is a reactionary medium. It exists as a dialogue with the series that it is about, and with our culture at large. The reason for the popularity of slash fiction lies there. Let me explain.
I have my own post on this topic waiting in Drafts, but this draws some very different conclusions, so I wanted to offer something of a counterargument.
First of all, I think you’re right. I think the mainstream media is lacking in convincing female characters in meaningful relationships, and I think society as a whole is against depictions of female pleasure. But I don’t like giving that as the sole explanation for the popularity of M/M.
